AIR

Newcastle Airport (website www.newcastleairport.com.au) is at Williamtown at the western end of Port Stephens. It is a fast-growing airport with flights to Adelaide, Canberra, Brisbane and Melbourne. It is served by Jetstar, Qantas, Tiger Airways and Virgin Blue.

BUS

Port Stephens Coaches (tel (02) 4982 2940; website www.pscoaches.com.au) runs buses connecting Port Stephens with Newcastle that stop at Newcastle Airport, Anna Bay and Nelson Bay. A one-way fare between Newcastle and Port Stephens costs $5.80. They also operate express buses to Sydney ($33 one-way/$50 return).


The Port Stephens Explorer (tel (02) 4980 6900) is another direct coach to Sydney. Tickets cost $40 one-way or $70 return. The return ticket includes a free Port Stephens Explorer Pass good for seven days travel on the Tomaree Peninsula.
