Noosa

Eating & drinking

Noosa has a small-town vibe and a laid-back café scene with a nice atmosphere, but you’ll pay for it. For the most part, Noosa cashes in on the influx of wealthy international visitors and domestic holiday-makers. There are a few good value eateries, but your best bet here is the supermarket.

Hastings Street in Noosa Heads is the trendy area with high priced Parisian-style cafés that are great for people-watching; while Sunshine Beach has sleepy, better value eateries and sandy feet with some nice spots for breakfast, lunch or a snack after you hit the beach. Sunshine Foodstore (46 Duke Street, Sunshine Beach) has a convivial setting and cheap healthy food.

There are plenty of fast food places near the shopping centres, but there are not many places that stay open late, so you’ll need to stock up on snacks for the midnight munchies. Coffee in Noosa is usually great, and there are many juice bars with fresh juice and smoothies.

There are quite a few good nightclubs and bars in Noosa, but most of them have ridiculously overpriced drinks. Happy hour at the hostel bars is not such a bad idea and deals on jugs of beer are usually worth it.

Noosaville is the best part of Noosa to buy groceries. The cheapest supermarket is Aldi (201 Weyba Road, Noosaville). There is also a Coles at the Noosa Fair Shopping Centre (Lanyana Way, Castaways Beach) and Woolworths at the corner of Gibson Road and Mary Street in Noosaville. Most of the hostels here have plenty of kitchen space and supplies.
