Mission Beach

Eating & drinking

There is a good range of places to eat in Mission Beach. Due to the increasing numbers of backpackers coming here, some inexpensive cafes have sprung up and backpacker deals can be found in most restaurants.

There is a supermarket in Wongaling Beach and Mission Beach, but eating out is a good way to mingle with the locals and meet other backpackers. Coconutz (Porters Promenade, Mission Beach) is a local favourite for its cool ambience, and has a fabulous beer and pizza backpacker special; Shrubbery Taverna (44 Marine Parade, Mission Beach) is also on the top of many lists, though the views come with a hefty price tag. A beer with a view is a good alternative, though. For breakfast or lunch, try Gecko Café (Porters Promenade, Mission Beach) in central Mission for its healthy and surprisingly cheap fare. Scotty’s Beach House (167 Reid Road, Wongaling Beach) is hands down the best place to drink cheaply and party, and there is a Thai restaurant opening soon that should have some good deals for backpackers.
