Toowoomba is known for its gardens and it is a pleasant place but Australia’s largest inland city doesn’t hold the allure of the coast and not many backpackers visit here.

Greyhound (tel 1300 473 946) is based in Toowoomba and has buses to Brisbane, Cunnamulla, Lightning Ridge and Rockhampton. The Greyhound terminal is at 28 Neil Street.
The Westlander train stops in Toowoomba en route between Brisbane and Charleville.
This museum is home to Australia’s largest collection of horse-drawn vehicles and it includes three stagecoaches from the Cobb & Co company that thrived during the 19th century.

Regional Queensland’s oldest art gallery has a collection of over 400 Australian paintings as well as several important historical documents written by prominent historical figures including poet Henry Lawson, explorer Ludwig Leichardt and La Perouse.
