Tamworth

Tamworth is the country music capital of Australia and the home of the annual Tamworth Country Music Festival as well as the big guitar. Country music is especially evident during the festival in late January, although at other times Tamworth is just another small regional city.

Coming & Going

Tamworth has pretty good transport connections including buses to Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne and towns in New England and the New South Wales north coast. Buses stop at the bus terminal near the corner of Murray and Peel streets.


Tamworth is also accessible by train with a station at the corner of Brisbane and Marius Streets. Countrylink runs one train a day to and from Sydney.
