Merimbula

Merimbula is the nicest town on the south coast and it is a popular spot for holidaymakers from Victoria and Canberra. It has nice beaches that are good for fishing, surfing and swimming. Whales can be seen off the coast (Oct-Nov).

Coming & going

Rex has daily flights from Merimbula Airport to Melbourne and Sydney. Buses 790, 791 and 792 run into town from the airport but services are infrequent and it is usually easier to just walk the 25 minutes to the YHA hostel. The bus from the airport into the town centre costs $2.70.


Buses run to Melbourne, Sydney and Canberra and stop at the Caltex service station on the Princes Highway.

Local transport

Deanes Buslines run local bus services in Merimbula with buses to neighbouring towns including Bega, Eden and Pambula. Most bus fares within Merimbula cost between $1.80 and $3.40.
