Ku-Ring-Gai Chase National Park is just 24km north of central Sydney. It is Australia’s second-oldest national park and features numerous coves and inlets along Broken Bay. The park is easily accessible by public transport making it a great day-trip or weekend destination. The park has some good bush walks, including a couple of easy 20-minute walks.
The Pittwater YHA hostel is located here, making the national park a popular destination with backpackers.

This national park is unique in its easy accessibility by public transport.
To get to the Bobbin Head entrance at the southern end of the park take a train to Turramurra (on the North Shore line) and then transfer to bus 577.
If you want to get to the Pittwater YHA hostel at the eastern end of the national park, take bus E86 from Wynyard Station, or bus 156 from Manly, to Church Point and then take the ferry (tel 9999 3492; website www.churchpointferryservice.com) to the hostel. The ferry costs $5.40 each way or $8.50 return and runs approximately every 45 minutes.
