Goulburn

Goulburn was proclaimed a City by Queen Victoria in 1863 and was the first inland city in Australia. It was also the location of the State’s last public hanging. Inspired by the region’s sheep farming industry, Goulburn’s main landmark is an enormous sheep where many of the Melbourne-Sydney buses stop for a meal break.

Coming & Going

Goulburn is easily accessible by both rail and bus. Melbourne-Sydney buses stop in the edge of town at the Big Merino, while trains stop in the more centrally situated station on Sloane Street. Goulburn has Countrylink Trains to Melbourne and Sydney and is also the southern terminus for CityRail Trains that provide a cheaper and more frequent, although slower, rail transport option to Sydney and Newcastle.
