This small seaside town is a relaxing spot to spend a day or two, although there isn’t a lot to do here.

Coming & going

Stan’s Coach Service (tel (03) 6356 1662) runs a twice-daily service to Scottsdale, where it connects with the Redline bus to Launceston.


You can travel by ferry from Bridport to Flinders Island in Bass Strait or Port Welshpool in Victoria. The ferry is operated by Southern Shipping (tel (03) 6356 1753).

Hostel accommodation

Bridport has an excellent hostel but if you’re driving you may want to take advantage of the free camping site at Northeast Park on Ringarooma Road (A3) in Scottsdale, about a 20-minute drive south of Bridport. Maximum stay seven days.
