This small university town is one of the nicer regional towns in New South Wales with some attractive old buildings and more culture than other country towns of a similar size. Armidale is a convenient base if you’re exploring nearby national parks.

Armidale is connected by buses to Brisbane, Sydney and other towns in New England and along the north coast. The bus station is located at the information centre on Marsh Street.
CountryLink’s Xplorer train service runs to Armidale from Sydney and Newcastle.
Armidale has six local bus routes operated by Edwards Coaches (tel (02) 6772 3116). Bus fares vary between $1.80 and $4.50 depending on the distance travelled.
