Darwin

Eating & drinking

Darwin has a good choice of eating and drinking options.

Smith Street Mall in the city centre has plenty of good value food courts and there are a few fast food places around Knuckey Street.

Mitchell Street is Darwin’s main bar and pub strip with Monsoon’s (46 Mitchell Street, Darwin), Shennanigans Irish pub (69 Mitchell Street, Darwin) next to the YHA, Duck’s Nuts (75 Mitchell Street, Darwin) and the Lizard Bar in the Top End Hotel (corner Daly & MItchell Streets, Darwin), which has Darwin’s best beer garden. There are also a couple of other bars and restaurants popular with backpackers, including the Vic (27 Smith Street, Darwin) in the Smith Street Mall.

If you’re preparing your own food, there’s a Woolworths supermarket on the corner of Cavenagh and Whitfield Streets and a Coles supermarket in the Mitchell Centre next door to Chilli’s Backpackers on Mitchell Street.
