Mon Repos

If you’re visiting between November and March you should make a trip to Mon Repos Beach (15km from the town centre) to watch the loggerhead turtles come ashore to lay their eggs. It is a great experience to see the baby turtles digging through the sand and making their way to the sea. You must make a booking with the tourist office (tel (07) 4153 8888) before you go as there are new regulations regarding the number of people allowed on the beach at a time, whether part of a tour or not. Your time of booking determines your time on the beach, so call early.
